The era of silent film comes alive again at Centenary Stage Company with The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra on Saturday, August 5 at 8pm in the Lackland Performing Arts Center as the 2017 Summer Jamfest continues. Based in Annapolis, MD, The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra has been hailed as "the premier American ragtime ensemble" by The Washington Post and is rapidly becoming the leading professional ragtime orchestra in the United States.

As one of the few professional ensembles dedicated to preserving America's first popular music, ragtime, the PRSO has been praised for its work to preserve and share in America's rich musical history. PRSO journeys back to the early 1900s as they screen three of the greatest silent comedies ever made, Charlie Chaplin's One A.M. (1916), Buster Keaton's Cops (1922) and Laurel & Hardy's Big Business (1929) with their live historic orchestral scores. Between the films, the orchestra plays the rollicking rhythms of the early 20th century, featuring favorites by Scott Joplin, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, and more.

Tickets for The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra on Saturday, August 5 at 8pm in the Sitnik Theater of the Lackland Center are $27.50 for adults and $22.50 for students. Ticket prices increase $5.00 the day of the performance. For more information on The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, visit peacherineragtime.com.
