3 Local Young Ladies Take the Stage at Roxey Ballet as the Nutcracker Heroine ImageFor little ones all over the world the magic of the Nutcracker begins with their first glimmer of Clara on the stage. This heroine inspires children with her ability to muster bravery and hurl her shoe at the Rat King thus leading to a magical journey. Many young girls pursuing their own Ballet dream hope one day as teens, with dedication and extensive training, they may also be chosen as Clara. This year the Roxey Ballet Company of Lambertville, NJ is bestowing this honor upon 3 talented young ladies from Bucks County, PAand Hunterdon County, NJ for their performances at Kendall Theater, The College of New Jersey.

Reprising the role as Clara is Cecilia Schmidt, age 13 of New Hope, PA and debuting are Nadia Espinoza, 12 of Flemington, NJ and Emma Wilson, age 13 of Flemington, NJ. Ballet is traditionally passed down through the linagefrom teacher to student. In this instance the senior, Cecilia, is also able to share her experience with the junior girls, Nadia and Emma. These talented young ladies have dedicated themselves to their craft. The rehearsals for this ballet started in September but their dance training began early as preschoolers at the Mill Ballet School, the official ballet school of the Roxey Ballet.

Understanding the importance of this role Emma Wilson states, "Getting to be Clara has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. It means so much to me, and I am so honored. I've always looked up to all of the past Clara's, and I hope that I can be that role model for others!" This exciting opportunity to transform themselves takes place alongside a world-class roster of professional ballet dancers and incorporates local dancers and talent of all ages. For the performances the impactful costumes, sets, and lighting are all professional caliber and spectacular.

Join these gifted ladies and the cast and crew of the Roxey Ballet at Kendall Theater, TCNJ November 25 - December 3rd and partake in this time-honored holiday celebration. Shows include a special matinee for those with sensory issues on December 2 and ticket prices begin at $20. For more information on buying tickets please see www.roxeyballet.org or call 609-397-7616.
