Regional Reviews
All Regional Reviews ›What has four legs and makes a clip-clop noise as it walks? Why, a king and his servant of course. Monty Python’s SPAMALOT is every bit as absurd as its base material, expanded into a full musical, and exquisitely brought to life by Drew Anthony creative. SPAMALOT has catchy songs, excellent performances, outstanding choreography, and humour from clever to crude. If you’re after a complete night out, grab two halves of a coconut and head to Planet Royale.
MY FAIR LADY on Hale Centre Theatre’s Centre Stage in Sandy is a pleasurably gratifying new exploration of a classic.
What did our critic think of YELLOW FACE at Mānoa Valley Theatre?
On Saturday, May 23rd, I had the pleasure of seeing an exciting new show at this promising new theater, DEADLINE, a highly enjoyable modern comedic mystery by Don Zolidis. Directors Ben Brennan and Cheyenne Perez help bring out the best in this stellar ensemble cast of twelve, all of whom have an excellent stage presence and strong stage chemistry with each other! It is clear that this entire cast worked hard preparing for their roles and are having fun delivering them. The positive energy they bring radiates throughout the venue!
What did our critic think of OFF THE CLOCK at PRANALIKA PRODUCTIONS?
The festival's second weekend kicks off with intestinal trouble, a footloose priest, and imperialist clowns.
For the Staatsoperette Dresden, the German-language premiere of Stephen Schwartz’s classic “Pippin – Die Kunst des Lebens” is a triumph on every level. Visual opulence, sharply played tragicomedy, a thunderously powerful orchestra, choreography overflowing with highlights, and a vocally formidable cast come together here in perfect symbiosis.
What did our critic think of TITANIC at Theater Erfurt?
Judging by audience reaction, many theatergoers were thoroughly entertained, even if the show’s intentionally broad comedic style was not my cup of tea.
EVER AFTER is a funny, optimistic, and dreamy love story perfect for any musical lover. It is a beautiful reminder of the magic of being in love and the strength that having the love of other people can provide. EVER AFTER at the Phoenix Theatre Company is an exciting and refreshing experience for audience members of all ages.

TUTS makes it live up to its name. It’s a handsome production, a great cast, and it feels like an old faithful friend. When you’re down and troubled, and you need a helping hand, just call the box office.
Even those who may not be as familiar with Shakespeare’s historical plays will find something of interest in Henry IV, Part 1—whether it be the comedic dialogue, the political intrigue, or the fast-paced fighting.
The Black Rep’s production shows why Fat Ham was a hot ticket both on and off Broadway. Ijames hilarious script takes on socially relevant topics in his updated retelling of Hamlet. Geovonday Jones sharp direction and the cast’s dynamic comedic portrayals make this a show that cannot be missed
Dear Readers, the bio-musical is a tricky thing. Some love them, some hate them. For me, it all depends on if you have an affinity for the music of the subjects, plus it needs a strong book. And then there’s the current show from Village Theatre, “We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up: The Hymon and Parfunkel Musical”, a show bold enough to create a made-up songwriting duo and spend their time poking fun at the genre they attempt to fit into, the bio-musical. But, without recognizable songs to hook you, we’re left with the strength of the book. Luckily the book is hilarious, assuming you’re a fan of the well-crafted groaner. Which I am.
Cash-strapped best pals Linda and Angie live for the weekend buzz of bingo night. Their daughters, Stacey and Amy, however, think it’s just an old biddies’ game until they hear about the ‘big one’ with £40k up for grabs.
