Music Director Thomas Søndergård opens the Nordic Soundscapes Festival with selections from Edvard Grieg's Norwegian Dances, followed by pianist Jon Kimura Parker performing Anders Hillborg's Piano Concerto No. 2, MAX Concerto. The program closes with Jean Sibelius' Symphony No. 2, one of the composer's most popular and frequently performed symphonies. Pre-concert activities spotlight Norwegian music and folk art in partnership with the Vesterhelm Museum, including Hardanger Fiddle performances and rosemaling demonstrations.
