The world premiere of HMong Futures: The Future of Us is an intergenerational story asking what it takes for a family to move from surviving to thriving. Anchoring the play are three HMong American women, and through their everyday lives, playwright Katie Ka Vang examines how one family can heal. To create this world premiere, Katie Ka held community engagement events and discussions in 2025, during the 50th anniversary of Southeast Asian people in Minnesota!
HMong Futures runs Apr 11-May 3 (previews 9 & 10), written by Katie Ka Vang, directed by Reena Dutt, and ft. Melody Her, Nancy Ma, Sharon Omi, Greg Watanabe, & Mason Yang. Special performances include appearances by Diego Symouksavanh and Dorothy Vang, talkbacks, accessibility services such as open captions, and mask requirements. See our website page for more details.

April 02, 2026 Mason Yang plays Aben in HMONG FUTURES by Katie Ka Vang, running April 9–May 3, 2026 at Gremlin Theatre. Currently a senior in high school, Mason has been building his acting experience across the Twin Cities, with credits at Children’s Theatre Company, Park Square Theatre, and Lakeshore Players.
