Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company (MJTC) will end its 15 th anniversary season with the regional premiere production of Women's Minyan by Naomi Ragen. It's been two years since Chana has seen her twelve children. A divorce decree gave custody of them to her husband, and she has not been allowed even a visit. Now, a legal determination has been made that she may see them, but when she arrives at their home, relatives deny her this right. Chana has no choice but to reveal secrets of her marriage.

Northrop Performing Arts at the University of Minnesota presents a performance featuring three Zimbabwean artists. Headlining the event is Nora Chipaumire on Thursday, April 29 at 7:30 pm. Nora Chipaumire is dedicated to the visual, aural, and kinesthetic equivalent of Africa's great cities. Self-exiled artist and Bessie Award winner, Chipaumire is known for her brave, transnational work that investigates contemporary African life. Chipaumire teams up with dancer Souleymane Badolo and master musician and poet Thomas Mapfumo with his band The Blacks Unlimited. In conjunction with the April 29 performance, screenings of the African films 'Nora', 'St. Louis Blues', and '1X2' will be presented April 27-28 and May 1.

Beyond Ballroom Dance Company (BBDC) will end its return to the Southern Theater for its seventh season on April 11th. Bringing delicate beauty and grace to The Nightingale, romping through The Red Riding Hood Suite (in which a rakish wolf comes across a surprisingly capable grandma), and finally bringing a majesty of movement to the grand ball in Cinderella (in an ensemble piece created by Sossy Mechanics' Brian Sostek and Megan McClellan in collaboration with BBDC), Beyond Ballroom weaves a spell of gorgeous dancing. These professional ballroom dance champions treat Southern audiences to an 'eye-opening look at what ballroom dance in the 21st century can be' (Star Tribune).
