Hennepin Theatre Trust today announced two special additions to its 2009/10 Broadway Across America-Minneapolis season-The Wizard of Oz, a new stage production celebrating the timeless 1939 MGM film starring Judy Garland, and CATS, the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic. Tickets to these newly added shows at Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum Theatre plus seven other 2009/10 season productions, will go on sale Monday, July 20 through the flexible "Pick Your Own Package." There is no place like home as the wonderful Wizard of Oz twists its way into Minneapolis to play the Orpheum Theatre March 26-28, 2010. This new and lavish stage production will transport audiences to a dazzling art deco Oz complete with the film's switch from sepia to color, munchkins and flying monkeys. Travel down the Yellow Brick Road and beyond with Dorothy, Toto and their friends in this musical featuring breathtaking special effects and classic songs.
There's no better way to introduce your family to the wonders of live theater than with the magic, the mystery and the memory of CATS. What began as a musical about cats after Andrew Lloyd Webber picked up a book of poems in an airport bookshop has become one of the longest running shows in Broadway's history. Playing at the Orpheum May 14-16, 2010, CATS is the winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical and features 20 of Andrew Lloyd Webber's timeless melodies, including the hit song, "Memory."

Starting Monday, July 20, 2009 at 10 a.m. CST, theatergoers can secure their seats for The Wizard of Oz and CATS, along with seven other 2009/10 season productions (Mary Poppins, 101 Dalmatians, In the Heights, Dreamgirls, Young Frankenstein, Mamma Mia! and Avenue Q) by taking advantage of the "Pick Your Own Package" option. Ticket buyers must select at least three shows, but can purchase tickets to as many shows as they want. They may also choose any performance and purchase up to eight tickets to each show at any desired price level. This offer is subject to ticket and location availability and additional fees may apply at the point of purchase. Single tickets for Mary Poppins are on sale now. Individual tickets for all other productions will go on sale at a later date.
