NYC Theater Company Plunges Audiences Into Darkness Image

Hit the Lights! Theater Co. (HTL!) is pleased to present the award winning production of DUNGEON as part of the 2017 Minnesota Fringe Festival. DUNGEON tells the story of a young man falling into the unknown to rescue something he holds dear. It is told through movement, sound, flashlights, and without the use of dialogue or stage lighting. Inspired by kabuki, video games, horror movies, and pixar shorts, dungeon builds a world where the darkness speaks louder than the light. DUNGEON features HTL! members Samantha Blain, Kristopher Dean, ClaRon Hayden, Casey Leach, Carli Rhoades and Mikayla Stanley.

HTL! is an award winning company created out of an artistic agreement to tell simple stories through unconventional ways. Using found materials, flashlights, and cardboard, HTL! specializes in the transformation of the ordinary into the extraordinary. HTL! also focuses on the interplay between darkness and light, utilizing shadow puppetry as the lifeblood of their storytelling. The company is comprised of six experienced multidisciplinary artists: puppeteers, actors, musicians, vocalists, artisans, and everything in between.

Over the past four years HTL! has appeared at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, where DUNGEON won the Audience Pick of The Fringe, the New York International Fringe Festival, and Portland Maine's Portfringe, earning another Critic's Pick for their shadow play, an adaptation of Moby Dick entitled WHALES. Last October HTL! participated in an artistic collaboration with the Know Theatre of Cincinnati, creating a world premiere immersive theater experience, The Other Rhine, inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, Sleep No More, and haunted houses. In March 2017 HTL! brought WHALES to their home turf of New York for two weeks of sold out shows at The Hive. Most recently, HTL! made their off-broadway debut with their original performance of HORSETALE at the Ars Nova 2017 All New Talent Festival.
