Athena by Gracie Gardner plunges audiences into the high-stakes world of competitive girls' Junior Olympic fencing, following Mary Wallace and Athena, two seventeen-year-old fencers who practice together, compete against each other, and spend their lives together while wishing they were friends. The production stars Jennifer Pan in the title role, with Brittany Batell as Mary Wallace and Amanda Buchalter as Jamie, featuring some of the most trained stage combatants in southeast Michigan. The show is fight-directed by Joe Wright and directed by Shelby R. Seeley, a Yale-certified director and Theatre NOVA Producing Artistic Director.
