Support local theater by attending the world premiere of an original Michigan musical Almost Alcatraz written and directed by 15-year-old Commerce Township resident Elise Marra. Performances will take place Friday, January 25th and Saturday, January 26th at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Starlight Theater in Waterford, Michigan. The island buzzes with excitement when Ella arrives to marry the Warden. Villani runs the show in prison, and the other prisoners all join his hope of using the wedding as a chance to escape. That is all except for Johnny, until he meets Ella - much to the chagrin of Villani's girl Amelia. Ann befriends Ella while she struggles to determine what to trust. As the plot unfolds, true feelings of love, jealousy, friendship and rage are exposed on this storied island. Director Marra is thrilled to feature an incredibly talented cast and crew with music director Jim Territo (composer, The Daedalus 2 Mission) and performers Jordan Gagnon (BroadwayWorld Detroit Award winner), Sage Robinson, Camy Sylvestre, Josh Aguilar, Sylvester Nadar, Emma Lockwood, Diane Wozniak, Jake House and more. At age 13, Marra was inspired to write the story, music and lyrics for Almost Alcatraz, including nineteen original songs, after a tour of the famous island. Dont be misled by her age and look for more shows coming from this young local playwright.
