A mashup of historical fact and anarchic theatricality, Broadway’s Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson tells the story of the populist pioneer of humble stock — otherwise known as “Old Hickory” — who invented the Democratic Party, moved the Indians west, rose to the highest office in the land and in this telling, plays a smokin’ guitar and sings a great arena rock ballad. Alex Timbers’ clever book for the show was nominated for a Tony. This Outré Theatre Company production hits the stage in the Abdo New River Room of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, playing May 1 through May 17, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.
