In 1943 Zelma Cason filed a ground-breaking lawsuit against Pulitzer Prize-winning author (The Yearling) Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.  Cason claimed Rawlings had invaded her 'right to privacy' in the author's recently published book, Cross Creek. The suit - the first of its kind ever filed in Florida -  used 'the right of privacy defense'.  At that time the state didn't even recognize the existence of that right.

Marcie Gorman-Althof and Michael Lifshitz, the producing partners behind MNM Productions, today announced that the preview performance of THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND, a musical revue showcasing the music of legendary Broadway songwriters John Kander and Fred Ebb, raised $2,280 to benefit the Metropolitan Community Church of the Palm Beach Gardens (MCCPB) and Joy MCC in Orlando. GableStage Announces 2016-2017 Season

Founded in 1979 as Florida Shakespeare Theatre, GableStage originally performed the plays of Shakespeare in repertory, using the outdoor Casino Gardens at Vizcaya. From 1987 to 1992, Florida Shakespeare Theatre was housed in the Minorca Playhouse in Coral Gables, until it was destroyed by Hurricane Andrew. But the theatre's mission could not be destroyed, and it continued to produce at the Carousel Theatre in Coral Gables in 1993 and 1994. In 1999, the theatre moved to its current home, the historic Biltmore Hotel, and became GableStage.
Broward Cultural Division Wins 12 NACIO Awards
