Ogunquit Playhouse Presents A CHORUS LINE On Rotary Night To Benefit Polio 6/3

Join the Ogunquit Playhouse for a performance of A Chorus Line on 'Rotary Night' as the Playhouse teams up with Rotary to help eradicate polio. On Wednesday, June 3, 2009 the Ogunquit Playhouse will donate a portion of each ticket sold to local Rotary clubs to benefit this cause. Rotary's goal is to raise over $5,000 on this one night! The evening begins with cocktails and hors d'ouvres at 6:30 in the Gazebo Garden tent, show time is 8PM, tickets are $47 per person.

Ogunquit Holds Auditions For A CHORUS LINE 5/20-6/13

The Ogunquit Playhouse is holding auditions for its non-Equity and Actors' Equity Association summer productions. The 2009 season auditions are for A Chorus Line - (May 20-June 13 rehearsals begin May 12), Shout! The Mod Musical (June 17- July 11 rehearsals begin June 2), Guys and Dolls (July 15- Aug 8 rehearsals begin June 30), Singin' in the Rain (Aug 12- Sept 12 rehearsals begin July 28) and All Shook Up (Sept 16- Oct 11 rehearsals begin Sept. 1). The Playhouse is also holding auditions for its non-equity production of Disney's High School Musical (Show runs three weekends June 27 & 28, July 25 & 26, Aug 29 & 30, rehearsals begin May 26). All characters in this show are good singers and dancers.

MSMT Announces Three Children's Musicals For Upcoming Season

Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) will present three children's musicals during its 2009 season. Prior seasons have included two musicals under the title Theatre for Young Audiences, but due to the enormous popularity of the children's shows MSMT is expanding its kid friendly entertainment to three titles for 2009.
New Acorn Studio Theater Is Now Completed, New Space Avaliable For Rental

Acorn Productions announces that the first phase of the renovations of the new Acorn Studio Theater have been completed, and the new space is available for rental by any member of the arts community. The new space features a modular 20 foot by 12 foot stage capable of being reoriented into several different configurations.

Children's Theater Camp At Hackmatack Playhouse Registration Now Open

Registration is underway for the 2009 Children's Theatre Camp at The Hackmatack Playhouse, Route 9 in Berwick, Maine. Katie Rodger is the director of the program. This is Rodger's sixth year with Hackmatack and said, 'I have loved every moment of the past 6 years as choreographer and assistant director and I can't wait to work with the children as director!' The children's 2009 summer play will be The Pirates of Penzance and is scheduled to be performed on July 31 and August 1,7, & 8 at 10 AM.

Ogunquit Playhouse Receives $10,000 Davis Family Foundation Grant

The Ogunquit Playhouse is the proud recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Davis Family Foundation to support the Youth Outreach and Education Programs. Grant funds will allow those who would not otherwise be able to participate due to financial hardship to visit the Ogunquit Playhouse this year.

Hackatack's New Season Helps Non-Profits Raise Funds In 09

From child abuse prevention to senior citizen disaster preparedness, Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick is continuing a tradition of helping non-profits' raise funds this year. According to Mike Maloney of South Berwick - Eliot Rotary Club, 'Partnering with the York County Elder Abuse Task Force, we host an evening at the theater, raising both funds and awareness to help prevent Elder abuse and neglect.
Jim Morgan Appointed To Ogunquit's Board Of Directors

The Ogunquit Playhouse is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Morgan to the Board of Directors. Jim is proprietor of a meetings and convention management company, Let's Meet, Inc. He grew up in Iowa, but always dreamed of living in New England. Jim was active in the 4-H Club throughout his childhood and his first job after college was with 4-H, training employees and volunteers to work directly with kids involved in the program. His many years with 4-H took him to Sweden, Dover, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C. While in D.C., Jim started his current business, and following his dream, recently opened a branch in Maine where he now resides and works.
Hackmatack Playhouse Holds Auditions For 37th Season 3/21,22

Call for actors, singers, and dancers! Auditions have been scheduled for the 37th season at Hackmatack Playhouse (Route 9, Berwick, Maine). Auditions are scheduled for 9:30am Saturday and 10:00 Sunday, March 21 and 22 at the Berwick Town Hall. Familiarity of the summer's shows is preferred, but no other preparation is necessary. Musicals will be auditioned on Sat (a dance call as well); and Our Town on Sunday. Musical call backs will be later in the day Sunday. MSMT Aquires SMT Costumes, Avaliable To Rent In 2009

Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) has purchased the entire costume stock from Seaside Music Theater of Daytona Beach, Florida and will be making those costumes available for rental to other regional theatres and local organizations. The costume stock, valued at $654,000, includes high-quality costumes for approximately ninety musicals and will be available for rental starting in the spring of 2009. MSMT plans to expand its current website to include photos and costume rental information.
