By Colin Greer - Directed by David Y. ChackAbraham Joshua Heschel escaped the Holocaust and lived in the US during the 1960s where he saw the rise of the Civil Rights Movement, the beginnings of the Feminist Movement, the growing awareness of the horrors of the Holocaust, the Free Soviet Jewry Movement and urban poverty reaching epic proportions. This play imagines Heschel both in friendship and in conflict with Catholic leaders during Vatican 2, and a young African American trying to make sense of his identity and his times.
