The Outsider by Paul Slade is a comedy that skewers politics and celebrates democracy. Ned Newley is terrified of public speaking and has impressively bad poll numbers, making him seem destined to fail as a gubernatorial candidate. His political consultant Arthur Vance, however, sees an opportunity: Ned may be exactly the kind of outsider candidate the public is looking for.
