Theatre 40, the professional non-profit theatre company of Beverly Hills, is back with a season of six plays. Get full details here:

July 23- August 23

Lakefront

by Norm Foster.

U.S. Premiere. Ever get the feeling you've lost your moxie? Retirees Christina and Robert were feeling that way when they met at a wedding a few weeks ago. During the reception, their intoxicated selves concocted an idea to help them get over their respective anxieties. Renting a lakefront cabin seemed like a great idea at the time---but now that they're sober, they have to go through with it. They have rented a lakefront cabin together to see if spending a night or two together, to test the intimacy waters, can help them find their mojo again. What could go wrong?

September 17- October 18

The Casebook of C. Auguste Dupin

Adapted by John Strysik

World Premiere. With Edgar Allan Poe's creation of the character of C. Auguste Dupin, the master of the macabre forever changed crime fiction. Dupin was the first modern detective. He was the archetype for literary sleuths Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot, solving seemingly unsolvable crimes with logic and astonishing deductions. This World Premiere play by the author of Power and Light brings together Poe's three spellbinding Dupin Mysteries: The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Mystery of Marie Roget and The Purloined Letter for an engrossing evening of murder, mayhem and meerschaum pipes.

November 12- December 13

The Heiress

by Ruth and Augustus Goetz.

The story of Catherine Sloper, the plain Jane daughter of a tyrannical rich man who dominates her life and subjects her to constant comparisons to her vibrant mother, who died when Catherine was young. When she becomes involved with a young man who wants to marry her, Catherine's father suspects him of being a fortune hunter. A meeting he has with the man's sister strengthens that belief. Catherine's father threatens to disinherit her if she continues the relationship, and she must make the difficult choice between wealth and a love that may or may not be truly reciprocated.

January 14- February 14, 2027.

The Ten Tombs of Dr. Styles

by Frank Semerano. World Premiere.

Five uninvited, suspicious, clueless and bumbling characters show up at the isolated estate of the late Egyptologist Dr. Winston Styles intending to search through the home, filled with precious artifacts, for the clues that will solve an ancient riddle. They are certain the answer will uncover a vast fortune. With little time, it is a desperate night....lives and loves are at stake....mysterious happenings....and a practical joke playing mummy. What could go wrong? Comedy ensues!

March 18- April 18

The Dream

by David Hunt Stafford

World Premiere. A woman awakens from a dream in which she sees a dead body lying along the side of the road in an unknown and remote location. She wakes her husband and tells him of her bad dream. He encourages her to forget it. Instead, she reports it to the police and informs them, in great detail, what she saw and that she dreamed it. She makes sure that they investigate. They reluctantly do so and find the dead body exactly as she described it. The police return to her with the question "How did you know the body was there, ma'am?" "I dreamt it...." Or did she?

May 20- June 20.

The Outsider

by Paul Slade

Ned Newley doesn't even want to be Governor. He's terrified of public speaking; his poll numbers are impressively bad. To his ever supportive Chief of Staff, Ned seems destined to fail. His political consultant Arthur Vance sees things differently: Ned might be the worst candidate to ever run for office....unless the public is looking for....the worst candidate to ever run for office. A timely and hilarious comedy that skewers politics and celebrates democracy.

Tickets are $35 for each show. For a limited time, a subscription package for the entire season can be had for $225, which includes two extra free tickets to any one show of your choice during the season, for a total savings of $55.
