Syrian Soap is a 60-minute solo show written and performed by Edib Farhan, set in an intergalactic bathhouse and inspired by Syrian soap operas. Farhan plays host to a bumptious, mustachioed ancestor who arrives with channeled advice, poetry, and a traditional Syrian bathroom slipper that may or may not be a metaphor for life under fascism. Beneath the absurdity, the show is a love letter to revolution and exile, exploring joy, self-expression, and the idea that healing—and mistakes—travel back seven generations. The show is directed and co-devised by Natasha Mercado and runs at The Broadwater (Blackbox) as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
