The world premiere by Luis Alfaro explores small-town Chicano life in a Pentecostal church on the edge of a cornfield in Earlimart, California. Hermana Romie, Hermana Cubby, Hermano Mando and Hermano Tico share chisme, food, and devotion to the Apostolic faith after their pastor disappears. As immigration raids threaten the community and Romie's daughter prepares to leave for a secular life in Los Angeles, Romie claims her own authority, uniting religious devotion with activism. The cast includes Evelina Fernández, Lucy Rodríguez, Sal López, Geoffrey Rivas and Esperanza América, directed by Jose Luis Valenzuela.
