Sierra Madre Playhouse presents Parable of Portals, a dance work by d. Sabela grimes that combines movement, sound, and visual media inspired by the writings of science fiction author Octavia E. Butler. Collaborating with Meena Murugesan, this immersive production brings to life Butler's Parable Series, exploring themes of survival, resilience, and community through the character of Lauryn Olamina. Dancer Brianna Mims joins grimes to embody the aspirations and struggles woven into Butler's narratives, creating a dynamic experience that reflects the tenets of her Earthseed belief system.
