Alice in Wonderland finds it way again and again onto stage and screen. In this postpandemic version by Moses Pendleton, choreographer and founder of Momix, the journey goes far beyond Lewis Carroll. All the characters are familiar, portrayed by eight versatile dancers who astonishingly metamorphose, aided by inventive costumes, colorful projections, and myriad props. The imaginative spectacle has been lauded as “trippy,” and the musical score is equally free-spirited, ranging from Bollywood to Danny Elfman to Jefferson Airplane. Momix calls its performers “dancer illusionists,” depicting their own mix of dance, physical transformation, and unexpected feats of human power and grace.
