Interview: Dr. Noreen Green, Conductor of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony

Dr. Noreen Green, the Founding Artistic Director and Conductor of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony has spent 30 years presenting music of the Jewish experience. I decided to speak with Maestra Green on her history with the LAJS, conducting past concerts, and the group’s recent 30th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, April 14 at Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Brentwood.

LA Jewish Symphony Play The Violins Of Hope At The Soraya Next Month

The Violins of Hope, a collection of rescued and restored musical instruments from the Holocaust, were on their way to Los Angeles when their journey was interrupted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Lahav Shani To Lead The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra At The Soraya

Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra returns to The Soraya under the helm of a?oewunderkinda?? chief conductor Tel Aviv born Lahav Shani on Wednesday, March 25 at 8:00pm with a program featuring the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 with Shani conducting and performing the piano solo and the Bartók Concerto for Orchestra. This concert is part of city-wide Violins of Hope project.

VIOLINS OF HOPE Announced At The Soraya

The Violins of Hope collection will make the journey from Tel Aviv to Los Angeles, in an unprecedented collaboration between The Soraya, the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, and four Southern California symphony orchestras. The Soraya will present three concerts featuring the rescued and restored violins, with an Opening concert on March 22 featuring the LA Jewish Symphony, followed by Israeli conductor Lahav Shani leading and performing with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra on March 25, and concluding with the Jerusalem Quartet on April 5. New West Symphony, The LA Lawyers Symphony, and Long Beach Symphony will host the violins in concerts at other venues throughout Southern California, reaching audiences across the region. The Soraya Announces 2019/2020 Season Featuring Randy Newman's FAUST

Executive Director Thor Steingraber unveils the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts' 2019-20 Season, which features a reconsideration of Randy Newman's musical Faust, in a concert format (May 9), an opening night recital with Itzhak Perlman accompanied by Rohan De Silva, piano (September 19), and a Beethoven 250th Birthday Celebration featuring six concerts beginning with Jonathan Biss, piano (October 15 & 16); other concerts include the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio (November 13), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Pinchas Zukerman, Principal Guest Conductor and Violin Soloist (January 24), Christian Tetzlaff, violin, with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (February 7), Academy of St Martin in the Fields with Joshua Bell (March 4) and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (March 25).
