Things getting too hot for you this summer? Come cool off at The Garage Theatre, where snow is predicted because it’s Christmas at the world premier of Elves 1989, a surreal, horror, comedy directed by Diana Kaufmann.
Sick of her family, crass commercialism, and her lame job at the mall, Kirsten invites her two best friends to the woods to perform a witchy ritual to denounce Christmas. But their innocent ceremony accidentally awakens a deadly dark elf intent on taking over the world with an evil army of elves. Now it’s up to Kirsten and a department store Santa to not just save Christmas, but to save the world!
Based on Elves, the horror screenplay by Jeffrey Mandel, this play was conceived of by Garage Theatre’s own Rob Young, who together with fellow company members Diana Kaufmann, Matthew Vincent Julian, and Rory Cowan created a reimagined parody of the original 1989 film.
Warning: this play contains foul language, familial abuse, sexual abuse, animal abuse, graphic violence, nudity, and scenes that some people may find shocking, repulsive, or offensive. Life can sometimes be like that.
