THERE'S SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH CYRUS Will Come to the Zephyr Theatre

There's Something Seriously Wrong with Cyrus: How I Went from a Hot Mess to a Hot Bitch will come to Zephyr Theatre, 7456 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046. Written and performed by Cyrus Deboo. Directed and developed by Jessica Lynn Johnson. Choreography by Pamela Najera. Presented by Soaring Solo Studios.

Previews Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Regular performances Saturday, June 13 at 7:45 p.m.; Sunday, June 21 at 6:00 p.m.

Cyrus Deboo is the son of traditional immigrant parents, a father from India and a mother from Iran. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, he becomes aware that his family is different from other families. He is also aware that he is different than most of the other boys around him. They want to play football; He wants to dress and dance like Madonna. He has to confront homophobia: his own and other people's. As he becomes more aware of his sexuality, he finds himself socially awkward with both straight and gay people. But, he has friends who love and guide him through his young years. Eventually, he'll meet one special guy. Will Cyrus' very traditional parents accept who he has become? More importantly, will Cyrus accept who he has become?

Cyrus Deboo portrays 22 characters in this solo performance full of humor, warmth, fun, and abundant heart.

Cyrus is an actor and writer originally from Seattle and now based in Los Angeles. You've seen him on television: in national commercials. In recurring roles on daytime dramas (The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, Port Charles), and in numerous episodes of primetime shows (CSI:Vegas, The Orville, Modern Family, How to Get Away with Murder, and more). He trained with famed acting coach Eric Morris and with Upright Citizens Brigade.

Cyrus' show is directed and developed by Jessica Lynn Johnson. Jessica is a published playwright, recipient of BEST NATIONAL SOLO ARTIST AWARD from Dialogue One Solo Theatre Festival, Co-Producer of the Stars Solo Series & Joshua Tree Solo Theatre Festival, Founder of Soaring Solo Studios.
