Odyssey Theatre Ensemble will present Robert Heide: IN SEARCH OF LOST American Playwrights on Saturday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. as part of its Thresholds of Invention series.
The event will introduce Los Angeles audiences to the work of playwright and Andy Warhol collaborator Robert Heide, whose plays were staged during the Off-Off Broadway movement at venues including Caffe Cino, La Mama Experimental Theatre Club, and Theater for the New City. Heide died on December 17, 2025.
According to the announcement, the afternoon will feature readings from several of Heide’s short plays, including Mother Suck, The Bed, and Remember, preceded by an excerpt from Tropical in Key West. The works are described as portraits of ordinary people navigating loneliness and unrealized dreams through darkly comic and poetic storytelling.
The event will feature performances by Jacque Lynn Colton, Gera Hermann, Paul Lieber, Harvey Perr, and Mark Simon. The Thresholds of Invention series is curated by Tony Abatemarco and produced for Odyssey Theatre Ensemble by Beth Hogan and Tony Abatemarco.
