Pericles, Prince of Tyre at Toni and Martin Sosnoff Theater, John Cranford Adams Playhouse

Hofstra University's 78th annual Shakespeare Festival presents this Shakespearean romance and adventure, directed by Royston Coppenger, following Pericles (Andrew Canese) as he flees a dangerous king, survives shipwrecks, and experiences loss and separation from his family across a journey spanning the Mediterranean. The production draws visual inspiration from 1940s film noir, Westerns, and classic monster movies, with towering screens displaying video imagery to establish shifting locations. The narrator Gower, played by Morgen Mighty, takes on the personality of a beat poet, while student performers alternate between acting and playing live, improvised musical accompaniment.
