WHBPAC Musical Theatre Camp to Present THE SECRET GARDEN, 7/14-18
Calling all young actors and actresses! WHBPAC's Arts Education Program is looking for youngsters, ages 6* - 16, to participate in its week-long summer Musical Theatre Camp, The Secret Garden. Campers will rehearse from Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18 culminating in a public performance on Friday night. The fee for the camp is $450.
Campers are cast on Monday, and by Friday, they are performance-ready with costumes and sets! And when they're not rehearsing with Missoula Children's Theatre Directors, campers will be learning all about theatre and singing from WHBPAC's acclaimed Teaching Artists, enjoying pizza parties and ice cream socials and participating in the ever-popular "Spirit Days!" Young people 12 and up who would like to be "behind the scenes" can choose to participate as "Assistant Directors."
Then, campers will present an original rendition of The Secret Garden based on the beloved children's book by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The play is a joyful retelling of a story of hope, celebration and all good things in life. Mistress Mary Quite Contrary leaves her home in India to live with her mysterious uncle in England. During the play, the contrary girl learns to make friends and to appreciate everything around her, including the Moor animals and helpful fireflies. Add a good healthy dose of caring and what happens? Mary's new friends, Colin, Martha and Archibald - well, the whole household - begin to enjoy the return of health and happiness in a garden carefully tended until it blossoms once more.
*Must be entering first grade in Fall of 2014.
