Grammy-Winner Marc Cohn to Play WHBPAC
Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, Marc Cohn, performs at Westhampton Beachy Performing Arts Center on Saturday, August 1 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $45, $60, $75 and are available online at www.whbpac.org.
Since his breakout hit "Walking in Memphis," Marc Cohn has built a reputation as a masterful storyteller able to combine the precision of a brilliant tunesmith with the passion of a great soul man. Balancing the exuberant with the poignant, and able to distill universal truth out of his often romantic, drawn-from-life tales, Cohn's Southern-tinted songs are warm, soulful, sexy, and full of easy-going charm.
Cohn's most recent release, Listening Booth: 1970, reinterprets songs that made an impression on him when he was 11. He covers tunes from "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney to "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles. Jim Lauderdale accompanies Cohn on The Grateful Dead's "New Speedway Boogie." And Cohn's take on Cat Stevens' "Wild World," shouldn't be missed.
