Astra Theatre Company Presents AN EVENING WITH ASTRA

They filled the stage at Unity Village Auditorium with singers and the air with holiday music in the best barbershop style. The event was the 2018 Holiday Harmony Spectacular staged on December 1 for a packed house of over 1500. Combined choruses of the Kansas City Chorus of Sweet Adelines International and the Heart of America Barbershop Chorus harmonized in full holiday costume.

Pianist Behzod Abduraimov to Make Rare Concert Appearance

Stanislav Ioudenitch, Artistic Director of Park International Center for Music (Park ICM), announced today that his protégé, Behzod Abduraimov, will return to Kansas City on January 19th to play a rare solo concert. Following rave reviews across the globe, Abduraimov has become a pianist in demand. The Los Angeles Times reported, “Uzbekistani pianist Behzod Abduraimov is fast becoming one of the finest musicians of his generation.” Bachtrack.com has also been quoted as saying of Abduraimov; “He is a bold player who can dazzle audiences with his technical brilliance.”

Musical Theatre Heritage's annual Christmas Spectacular opened the weekend of December 7th for a run through December 23rd at the MTH Theater on the third floor of Crown Center in downtown Kansas City.  An eight-person cast along with a four-piece orchestra combines traditional popular Holiday music with some less familiar selections chosen to display the unusual skillsets of this cast.

Kansas City Actors Theatre has completed casting for its production of Ariel Dorfman's "Death and the Maiden," which will run from January 9th to the 27th at the City Stage in Union Station. The production will be directed by Cinnamon Schultz and will star Vanessa Severo, Robert Gibby Brand, and Rusty Sneary. The production team includes Gary Mosby (Scenic Designer,) Deb Morgan (Properties Designer), Georgianna Buchanan (Costume Designer), Shane Rowse (Lighting Designer), Jonathan Robertson (Sound Designer), Mary Allison Joseph (Dramaturg), and Kyle Dyck (Technical Director).

The MTH Theater has announced casting and additional details for its upcoming production of A SPECTACULAR CHRISTMAS SHOW. The original Revue is Directed by Linda Ade Brand with music directed by Mark Ferrell. The entirely Kansas City based company features David Adams, Samantha Agron, Danielle Barger, Lexi Brie, Jerome Johnson, Sicily Mathenia, Jon Rizzo, and Bob Wearing. The four-piece band will feature Ferrell on piano, Jacob Roemer on bass, Tod Barnard on drums, and Nate Nall on Trumpet.
