Kauffman Center Will Present BAY OF LIFE: FROM WIND TO WHALES Talk
Photographer Frans Lanting and science writer Christine Eckstrom will appear at the Kansas City venue.
Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts has announced BAY OF LIFE: From Wind to Whales, a new installment of its Trailblazing Talks speaker series featuring photographer Frans Lanting and science writer Christine Eckstrom.
The presentation will explore the ecological history and recovery of California’s Monterey Bay, which the speakers describe as one of the nation’s leading biodiversity hotspots.
According to the event description, Monterey Bay faced environmental collapse roughly a century ago due to clear-cutting of Redwood forests and widespread threats to wildlife populations. The talk will examine the region’s restoration and conservation efforts and focus on the ways damaged ecosystems can recover through collective action.
Lanting and Eckstrom, who both live in the Monterey Bay area, will share photography, storytelling, and scientific perspectives throughout the event.
BAY OF LIFE: FROM WIND TO WHALES
The event will take place Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. in the Muriel Kauffman Theatre at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
Tickets are available through the Kauffman Center Ticket Office at 816-994-7222 or online at Kauffman Center Ticketing Page.
