Florida Repertory Theatre (floridarep.org) is a professional theatre company serving all of Southwest Florida. Celebrating its 28th year of award-winning regional theatre in downtown Fort Myers, we are non-profit theatre company that produces a wide variety of musicals, comedies and dramas such as Little Shop of Horrors, The Play That Goes Wrong, The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge, Tuesdays with Morrie and rolling world premieres such as Advice.
With a budget of $5 million, a staff of 55, actors and directors from NYC, many with Broadway credits, Florida Repertory Theatre brings more than 100,000 people to the Fort Myers River District annually. Florida Repertory Theatre performs in the 400 seat, 100 year old, historic Arcade Theatre, the 100 seat ArtStage Studio, and the 100 seat Bunch Comedy Club. We also operate a premier educational theatre program that reaches more than 45,000 young people annually.
Job Summary

Working in close alliance with Florida Repertory Theatre leadership, the marketing manager coordinates all marketing functions for the organization. Marketing manager plays a vital role in driving an audience, especially a new audience, to one of Southwest Florida’s premiere arts organizations.
The marketing manager is a creative strategist and audience-builder responsible for driving earned revenue through ticket sales, subscriptions, group sales and education enrollment—while strengthening Florida Repertory Theatre’s brand and public presence. Working closely with artistic and executive leadership, the marketing manager develops and executes marketing strategies that reflect the theatre’s artistic vision and institutional goals. This role oversees all marketing initiatives, manages staff and external collaborators, and ensures cohesive brand expression across all platforms and experiences. The marketing manager collaborates extensively with internal departments to enhance the patron experience. They are the key senior staff member who demonstrates a passionate commitment for establishing and meeting the attendance goals that will assist the theatre in achieving its artistic mission.
Marketing manager designs initiatives dedicated to increasing patron loyalty and retention, growing new audiences and expanding the reach and impact of education programming. The marketing manager implements comprehensive marketing campaigns to sell show tickets; including season tickets. This position leads the development of marketing strategy for Florida Repertory Theatre’s nine show season, three Educational Touring productions, Conservatory, summer theatre camps, PlayLab Festival of New Works and outreach events.
Job Description
The marketing manager plans, implements, and evaluates all marketing, advertising, and public relations efforts for Florida Repertory Theatre; including the education department. Responsibilities include developing an annual marketing plan and budget; overseeing print, print collateral, digital and broadcast advertising, direct mail campaigns; cultivating media relationships; and advancing audience development initiatives. At the end of each season, the marketing manager prepares a comprehensive report assessing marketing outcomes, challenges and opportunities to inform future strategy. The position strengthens the theatre’s brand. Participate in upcoming project to improve branding and establish branding guidelines. The position also creates and maintains a marketing style guide to ensure brand consistency and best practices. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution and is a deadline-driven position requiring strong organizational and communication skills.
Guidelines for the Position
• Lead the planning and execution of all seasonal marketing, publications and sales initiatives.
• Collaborate with artistic and executive leadership to ensure marketing efforts accurately reflect Florida Repertory Theatre’s mission and vision.
• Shape and steward the public image of Florida Repertory Theatre across print, digital/broadcast/social media and live events.
• Develop and manage the annual marketing budget.
• Champion audience development, retention, and long-term growth strategies.
• Work collaboratively across departments to align messaging and integrate marketing with fundraising, education, and operations.
Specific Responsibilities
• Develop and implement a comprehensive seasonal marketing strategy across print, digital, direct mail, and advertising platforms.
• Monitor ticket sales and marketing performance data to assess effectiveness and recommend adjustments. Analyze data from advertising partners and box office reports to inform decision-making.
• Maintain a marketing style guide to support consistent branding and best practices.
• Collaborate regularly with associate artistic director, producing artistic director and executive director.
• Take part in strategic planning exercises.
• Compile and present an annual end-of-season marketing report.
Budgeting and Vendor Management
• Manage the annual marketing budget, including invoices and payments.
• Negotiate and manage advertising and trade agreements.
• Serve as liaison to external vendors, including graphic designers, photographers, commercial printers, videographers, editors and advertising partners.
• Manage program advertising sales and trade agreements.
Branding, Design and Content
• Oversee the creation of show-specific content and artwork for Mainstage, Conservatory, and Theatre for Young Audiences productions.
• Manage all print and digital marketing materials, including programs, brochures, posters, subscription campaigns, direct mail, education materials, and advertising.
• Provide creative writing and content development.
• Maintain Florida Repertory Theatre and education department presence across all platforms.
Digital Presence and Communications
• Oversee and/or delegate management of websites, digital platforms, social media accounts and online listings.
• Plan and execute email marketing campaigns and group sales initiatives.
Media, Public Relations and Events
• Serve as the primary press and media contact for local and national inquiries.
• Maintain current press list.
• Write and distribute press releases and media materials.
• Coordinate PR photo calls, press events, and artist appearances.
• Represent Florida Repertory Theatre at openings, galas, donor events, board meetings, community events and trade shows.
Staff Leadership and Operations
• Manage marketing department staff which includes a digital media specialist a social media specialist including assigning responsibilities and evaluating performance.
• Create and maintain seasonal project schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
• Maintain hands-on capability with tools such as MailChimp, Audience View, Audience Republic, Adobe Creative Suite, CleanPix, advertising dashboards and related platforms.
• Perform other marketing-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Minimum five years of marketing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strategic, analytical, and innovative thinker with strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms, direct mail, and direct email marketing and a mix of advertising modalities.
• Experience using customer databases for reporting, list creation, and sales analysis.
• Understanding of budgeting principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Background in arts administration with a genuine interest in theatre.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, reporting dashboards, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Working knowledge of graphic design, photography and video editing is a plus.
Hours & Compensation
This is a full-time position (40+ hours per week), including evenings and weekends for opening nights, photo calls, Art & Music Walks, and special events. Benefits include complimentary gated parking, contributions to health, dental, and vision insurance and paid time off. Salary $50,000-$55,000.
