TITLE: Group Sales Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing and Director of Ticketing & Sales Operations

STATUS: Full Time/Exempt



SALARY: This is a B-18 union position and will be paid based on the negotiated hourly rate and terms. For FY25, that annual rate was $71,572. Candidates are not required to be members of the union in order to apply. The successful candidate will need to join the union once they receive the job.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Group Sales Manager actively prospects for, solicits, and sells group visits (tour and non-tour groups) and coordinates the daily operations of the Group Sales program at American Conservatory Theater. The person performs a range of duties including generating and nurturing leads, selling group visits, processing and servicing all requests for groups, handling all group customer inquiries, and producing status reports. This is not a supervisory role.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

Please note that this list is not exhaustive, but rather a representation of job duties.

• Responsible for generating a minimum of $40,000 per production in group sales. A.C.T averages 5-6 theatrical productions per fiscal year.

• Identify and pursue strategic opportunities for capturing volume ticket sales from targeted constituencies. Coordinate with Director of Ticketing to identify appropriate group inventory and pricing.

• Solicit and monitor leads for Group Sales based on sales and attendance goals set with Director of Marketing.

• Take strategic lead in the formulation and implementation of proactive Group Sales marketing campaigns.

• Develop targeted group outreach events and programs; make personal appearances to sell groups on behalf of A.C.T.

• Coordinate and process all phases of group contracts; book orders, secure deposits and payments for group ticket sales through our Tessitura ticketing system.

• Report on customer relationships, sales forecasts, and new prospects within the Bay Area market.

• Manage various sales and marketing partnerships with city, state, and international partners including SFTA, Visit California, and partners in key international markets.

• Work a minimum of one consistent box office shift per week. The exact scheduling of the shift will be done collaboratively between the Group Sales Manager and the Director of Ticketing.



QUALIFICATIONS & QUALITIES:

Required/Minimum Qualifications or Basic Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of sales or marketing experience, ideally with a nonprofit or mission driven organization.

• Experience with ticketing databases, Tessitura preferred.

• Demonstrated capacity to identify leads and close sales.

• Ability to create and execute sales campaigns.

• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Excellent presentation skills.
