LAUREL LITTLE THEATRE
Season Opener
SOMETHING ROTTEN
A Very New Broadway Musical
July 29-31 & August 5-7

Laurel Little Theatre opens its 62nd Season with the musical, SOMETHING ROTTEN. Evening performances are July 29-30 and August 5-6 at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees on July 31 and August 7 are at 2 PM.

The recent Broadway hit got multiple Tony Award nominations including Best Musical. It features a great score, funny script, big dance numbers and spectacular costumes.

Set in 1595 during the height of Shakespearean times, a pair of brothers producing theatre shows never seem to have the hits their arch enemy has - the swashbuckler ladies man, William Shakespeare.

So they have a clever idea - why not put words to music to bring in a crowd - creating the world's first musical comedy.

It's super funny as every song spoofs something from our modern shows like PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, LES MISERABLES, A CHORUS LINE, OKLAHOMA, and even ANNIE. There's one big number that has riffs off two dozen different musicals from the last four decades in just one five-minute song.

Director Frankie Bennett, music director Dr. Susan Smith and choreographer Coco Caldwell have a huge cast and crew of over 50 thats been in rehearsals the last two months.

Playing the Shakespeare role is long time LLT alumni Jay Baggett. The two brothers that are his competitors are cast with Reagan Arnold and Dallen Boutwell.

Other lead roles are played by Scottie Corley, Josh Crosby, Tara Hall, Michaela Lin, Anthony Nix, Tyrone Rogers, Tommy Smith and Katelyn Welch.

Supporting roles are cast with Rick Bennett, Nathaniel Gamblin, Bobby Hiatt Jr, Bobby Hiatt Sr, Kody Loper, Keanan Peoples and Seth Rodivich.

The medieval townspeople are played by Mia Allison, Rachel Broome, Coco Caldwell, Emily Dodd, Carole Goza, Loren Hardy, Michelle Marquand, Savanna Newman, Emma Powell, June Rogers, Kena Smith, Logan Springstead, Sydnee Tisdale.

Stage manager Christy Liverett is assisted by Sallie Mitchell, Ella Powell and Angela Watkins.

Sets and props are headed up by RK Wilson and Sandra Boutwell and costumes by Carole Goza.

Sound, lighs and projections are handled by Joe Blackledge, Brent Holifield, George Jackson and Sydney Kitchens.

The show includes cast members from seven different counties around the Pine Belt area.

Call in reservations in advance to have your space held and then ticketing is done at the theatre when you attend.

Appropriate for teens and up, anyone attending must have their own ticket regardless of age.

The very best deal for tickets is LLTs 4-Punch Season ticket. There are single, couple and family packages that can save 17%-24% off single ticket prices.

Gold Patron level includes season tickets, name in show programs, complimentary drinks, and a choice of seats from the reserved Gold Patron section.
