Art Factory Presents A Gritty New Production of Theatrical Masterpiece, RENT! Jonathan Larson’s 1996 Tony-Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical RENT shook Broadway’s foundation and has touched lives across the globe. The musical, which is loosely based on Puccini’s La Bohéme, follows a group of struggling artists trying to survive in Manhattan’s East Village, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The grungy rock score includes beloved songs like “Seasons of Love,” “Out Tonight,” “Take Me or Leave Me,” and of course, “Rent.” After taking the world by storm, RENT finally makes its way to the Art Factory stage in a thrilling new production. Art Factory’s brand new production stars Chase Callahan as Mark Cohen, Colton Berry as Roger Davis, Eliza Wernick as Mimi Marquez, David Allen III as Tom Collins, Ramaj Jamar as Angel Dumott Schunard, Katy McCants as Maureen Johnson, Adora Teboh as Joanne Jefferson, and Dwayne Lee as Benjamin Coffin III. RENT also features an incomparable ensemble including Donna Barnett (Mrs. Jefferson and others), Amber Cossette (Alexi Darling and others), Marquis Evans (Mr. Jefferson and others), Luke J. Hamilton (Steve and others), Terry Jones (Gordon and others), Allan McFarlane (Paul and others), Sarah Beth Sims (Mark’s Mom and others), and Pari Zangara (Roger’s Mom and others). RENT is directed and choreographed by Founding Executive Director Luke J. Hamilton. Production Design is by Founding Artistic Director Colton Berry, with music direction by Jane Volke, and Ashley M. Frye as Production Stage Manager. RENT runs June 6 through 15, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday performances as 5:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.ArtFactoryHouston.com/tickets , or at the door. Art Factory is located just north of downtown at The Docks, 1125 Providence Street. Free onsite parking is available. RENT! is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
