Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre Presents AIRPLAYZ, 6/9

Saturday evening, June 9th, at 7:30 p.m. master actors from The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre (BRIFT) will enact The Maltese Falcon in much the same way as it was presented during the golden age of radio. Utilizing specially designed props and some traditional and not so traditional devices for sound effects, the performers will bring to life those days when radio was the dominant form of entertainment. And, to add to the fun, the audience becomes part of the show.

The Maltese Falcon, written by Dashiell Hammett in 1930, is considered by many critics to be one of the finest radio dramas ever presented. The popularity of Hammett’s main character, Sam Spade, endures even today.

Airplayz will be hosted and directed by award-winning actor Gordon McConnell, who is an instructor at BRIFT. McConnell’s career has taken him from Los Angeles to London to Amersterdam to New York City and, eventually to South Florida, where his performances have earned him the prestigious Carbonell Award.

Tickets are $15.00 each. Seating is limited. Call (561) 385-1584 or email briftfinancedirector@comcast.net. The Burt Reynolds Institute is located at 100 North U.S. Highway One, Jupiter, Fla.
