LONG JOHN SILVER

Male, 40s+, the ship’s cook, charismatic, a cunning manipulator; a brilliant chameleon. He is agile and commanding despite his wooden leg. An ironic father figure to Jim. Navigates his wide emotional range with prowess and unpredictability. A man of many colors – all of them charming, none of them trustworthy. Baritone.

CAPTAIN ALEXANDER SMOLLETT

Male, 40s, the strict, steady, capable Captain of the Hispaniola; authority figure, moral, honorable and stoic. Baritone to F.

SQUIRE JOHN TRELAWNEY

Male, 45+, local nobleman and wealthy benefactor of the journey; energetic, pompous, arrogant, upright, but lacking discretion. An excellent marksman, but an all around blowhard. Tenor to A flat.

DOCTOR DAVID LIVESEY

Male, 40s+, ship’s doctor. Steadfast, courageous, perceptive, loyal. A protector to Jim and his mother. Baritone to F#.

MOTHER MARY HAWKINS

Female, 30s, recent widow; strong, opinionated, kind and loving but worn with the work and responsibility of her life. Runs the Inn after recent death of her husband. Tough but loving with Jim. Intolerant of Billy Bones and not afraid to stand up to anyone. Mezzo with belt.

GEORGE MERRY

Male, 30s, opinionated, ruthless, jealous of Silver’s lead, conniving; shares equal thirst for blood and rum. Has a passionate temper. Part of Flint’s crew at one time. Baritone.

ABRAHAM GRAY

Male, 30s, his loyalty lies in question; observer of life. All the trappings of an educated, good man, but trapped in a sinister world. Carpenter’s mate. High Baritone.

DICK

Male 20s. Easily persuaded, naïve. A true follower. Aware of moral reasoning, but does not always adhere to it. Questioning and soulful. Young, green and earnest. Tenor to A.

JOB ANDERSON

Male, late 30s/early 40s, ship’s boatswain. Terrific game player. His loyalty remains in question, duplicitous. Tenor to High C; PEW, late 30s/early 40s, male, blind, Tim Burton-esque, creepy beggar. Tenor to C.

BEN GUNN

Male, 35+, crazy, wild, unpredictable; the sole human inhabitant of Skeleton Island. Comedically schizophrenic and erratic. Excellent physical comedian. Tenor to High C. / O’BRIEN, male, 35+, follower of Silver. Ruthless and without moral reasoning. Tenor to high C.

TOM REDRUTH

Male, 45+, Trelawney’s dedicated servant, loyal and true. A team player. Baritone. BILLY BONES, male, 45+, a wild, drunken, surly sea captain, in possession of the cherished treasured map; gruff and sloppy. Baritone.

ISRAEL HANDS

Male, 35+, black hearted, isolated. Captain Flint’s gunner at one time, presently the ship’s coxswain. Sharp and methodic. Bass/Baritone; BLACK DOG, male, 35+, Tim Burton-esque creature missing two fingers on left hand, strongly in pursuit of the map. Eerie, prone to violence, short tempered. Bass.
