ENSEMBLE, U/S BILLIE RAE: Will understudy the role of BILLIE RAE VALENTINE Female, Black, 30’s: This role is a re-imagining of the character from the 1983 film. A clever con artist who runs the mean streets of Philly, 1983. The system has dealt her a tough hand, she has a plan that will get her a place at the table. After getting rejected by the system that was rigged against her, Billie Rae uses her skills as a con-woman to rise to the top of the commodities trading market. A fantastic contemporary musical theatre singer with a huge pop belt, excellent comedy chops, and move very well. ENSEMBLE. *TRACK HAS BEEN OFFERED.

ENSEMBLE, U/S LOUIS: Will understudy the role of LOUIS WINTHORPE III Male, Caucasian, 30’s: Louis is one of the top brokers at Duke and Duke, and he got here the old-fashioned way: White Privilege and the patriarchy. Louis has the complexion, demeanor, and personality of a marble statue of Terpshichore, Greek Muse of Lyric Poetry. Dapper and dainty, Louis is a tiger on the commodities trading floor and a nervous kitten in the sheets with his fiancé, Penelope. Louis hasn’t had an entire thought about anyone other than himself in many, many years. Has an excellent contemporary musical theatre tenor voice, impeccable comedic timing, and moves very well. ENSEMBLE. *TRACK HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED.

ENSEMBLE, U/S PENELOPE VAN VERST: Will understudy the role of PENELOPE VAN VERST Female, Caucasian, late 20’s to 30’s: Louis’ prim and proper fiancé. Penelope lives the role she was “born” to play--but it’s really the role she is “forced” to play by her misogynist uncles, Randolph and Mortimer Duke. The Dukes have Penelope’s life planned-out, down to her ideal dress size and the types of things she should say. Has an excellent musical theatre pop belt, impeccable comedic timing and move very well. ENSEMBLE.

ENSEMBLE, U/S MORTIMER DUKE and RANDOLPH DUKE (The Duke Brothers): Will understudy the roles of MORTIMER DUKE and RANDOLPH DUKE Male, Caucasian, late 40’s to 60’s: Penelope’s uncles and Louis’ bosses. Our “villains”, the Duke brothers have made a lavish fortune by standing on the backs and necks of workers. The audience needs to “love to hate” the Dukes. Has laser-sharp comedy timing, big vocal pipes in a contemporary musical theatre voice, and moves well. ENSEMBLE.

ENSEMBLE, U/S OPHELIA: Will understudy the role of: OPHELIA Male, late 20’s-30’s, Latinx: A cisgender male (Phil Lopez), who’s a professional Drag Queen and does two shows a night at Rosie’s Piano Crisis. Ophelia/Phil becomes Louis’ ally after Louis is jailed and disgraced by Mr. Beeks and subsequently takes Louis under his wing and into his tiny apartment, becoming a key undercover agent in the heist against the Dukes in act two. Has a strong contemporary musical theatre tenor voice, excellent comedic timing, and is an excellent dancer. ENSEMBLE.

ENSEMBLE, U/S BEEKS and COLEMAN: Will understudy the role of: BEEKS Male, any ethnicity, late 30’s-40’s: Clarence Beeks is the Duke brothers “fixer” and henchman. Beeks is not afraid to get his hands dirty, even if it means doing a cartwheel across the stage. Beeks sets all of the action of the play into motion, with Machiavellian methods and zero sense of remorse. Beeks gets to slink around the stage like he’s in some kind of slinky Bob Fosse number. Will also understudy the role of: COLEMAN: The Dukes’ butler, is the wise and funny narrator of the story. Coleman welcomes us into the story, keeps the action moving, and becomes an integral part of the heist in act two. Actual stand-up comedy experience and/or improvisation preferred. Coleman is a great chance to steal the show. Has an excellent contemporary musical theatre tenor voice and impeccable comedic timing. Moves very well. ENSEMBLE.

ENSEMBLE DANCERS: All ages 18+, ethnicities, genders, heights, sizes, shapes and looks. Must have strong technical and contemporary dance skills and must also have strong singing voices and acting skills. ENSEMBLE.
