SEEKING

Orlando Shakes is currently accepting AEA principal audition video submissions for its upcoming production of THE TRIAL OF EBENEZER SCROOGE. (See breakdown.) Local actors are particularly encouraged to submit.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, accepting video submission auditions in lieu of live local Equity auditions.

Orlando Shakes is seeking stage manager resumes for all productions. Please email a resume and Cover Letter to production@orlandoshakes.org

Actors are asked to record video of no more than two sides in total. Sides are available at https://www.orlandoshakes.org/about-us/auditions/. The preferred video format is an unlisted YouTube or Vimeo link; please do not submit a video that needs to be downloaded to view. At the beginning of the video, please state your name and what show/role(s) you are auditioning for (you may add additional characters that you did not record sides for).

Setting: December 24, 1844. One year after the events of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. NOTE: Please prepare appropriate British accents for each role.

THE BAILIFF (MR. CONNOLLY)
THIS ROLE IS CAST. UNDERSTUDIES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
Male-identifying. Any Ethnicity. 30s. A good-hearted man who serves in Judge Pearson’s court. Seeking comic actor.

JUDGE STANCHFIELD R. PEARSON
Any gender. Any Ethnicity. 50s-60s. The judge presiding over the case of Ebenezer Scrooge v. Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Seeking comic character actor.

SOLOMON ROTHSCHILD
Male-identifying. Any Ethnicity. 30s-40s. A slick, showman of a lawyer from the law firm of Rothschild, Steinberg, and Jacobson. Seeking comic character actor.

EBENEZER SCROOGE
Male-identifying. Any Ethnicity. 60s-70s. A mean, angry, bitter main character from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Seeking comic character actor.

BOB CRATCHIT / JACOB MARLEY
Male-identifying. Any Ethnicity. 50s. Bob Cratchit - clerk at Scrooge and Marley’s. Worked all day for Scrooge on that previous fateful Christmas Eve, warmed in the office by the heat of only one coal. Jacob Marley - Scrooge’s dead partner. Heavily chained, ghostly, scary affected voice – the Marley we have all seen in productions of A Christmas Carol. Seeking comic character actor.

FRED / GHOST OF CHRISTMAS YET TO COME
THIS ROLE IS CAST. UNDERSTUDIES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
Male-identifying. Any Ethnicity. Mid 20s-30s. Fred - Mr. Frederick Fitzpatrick. Nephew of Scrooge, believer in the goodness of Christmas and the Christmas spirit. Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come - Does not possess a normal voicebox, requires a court appointed translator. Seeking comic actor.

MRS. CRATCHIT / SARA WAINWRIGHT / MRS. DILBER / THE TRANSLATOR
THIS ROLE IS CAST. UNDERSTUDIES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
Female-identifying. Any Ethnicity. 50s-60s. Mrs. Cratchit - Bob Cratchit’s wife, a strong, no-nonsense woman. Sara Wainwright - a wealthy dowager with “a golden spoon up her hams”. Collects money for food to give to the poor around Christmastime. Mrs. Dilber - An old beggar woman. Raided Scrooge’s bedroom while he was “away” on the night of A Christmas Carol. The Translator - A medium who translates from ghost to English for The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, who cannot speak English. Seeking comic character actor.

CHRISTMAS PAST / FAN / BELLE
THIS ROLE IS CAST. UNDERSTUDIES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
Female-identifying. Any Ethnicity. Mid 20s-30s. Christmas Past - One of the spirits who visited Scrooge one year ago. Light, airy and fun. Fan - Mrs. Fan Scrooge Fitzpatrick. Scrooge’s big hearted younger sister. Belle - Scrooge’s former fiancé. Released him from their marriage contract because she was replaced by his other love, money.
