THE FOLLOWING ROLES HAVE BEEN CAST:

CAST: DULE HILL [DIPSEY] Male, 30s-40s, Black. A charismatic dancer/choreographer, brimming with ideas and ambition. Baritone. PRINCIPAL

CAST: [DADDY BATES] Male, 60s, Black. An old-time Vaudeville hoofer. Older but at the peak of his dancing skills. Baritione. PRINCIPAL

SEEKING:

[WILLIE] Male, 10, Black. The energetic and charismatic baby of the family whose biggest dream is to be a great tap dancer like his Uncle Dipsey. Unchanged Voice/Boy Soprano. An excellent tap dancer and singer. PRINCIPAL

[EMMA] Female, 14, Black. Willie’s sister. Bright, outspoken, and gangly. Has her sights set on being the best lawyer in her father’s firm. Strong Alto Belt. PRINCIPAL

[GINNIE] Female, 30s, Black. Willie and Emma’s mother. Smartly dressed, carries herself with the grace of an ex-dancer. The family peacemaker. Mezzo-Soprano with Strong Mix. PRINCIPAL

[WILLIAM] Male, early 40s, Black. Willie and Emma’s father. A successful lawyer, owner of one of the first black law firms in New York. Brusque and strong-willed. Perhaps it’s tough love, perhaps it’s just tough. Willie is the light of his life, and he doesn’t understand him at all; Emma feels, and is, overlooked. Baritone. PRINCIPAL

[CAROLE] Female, 30s, Black. The most experienced dancer in Dipsey’s current show. Gingerly and attentive to Dipsey, there is obvious attraction. Becomes Dipsey’s assistant. Mezzo-Soprano with Belt. PRINCIPAL

[MONA] Female, 20s—30s, Black. A seasoned dancer in Dipsey’s show with high standards and a no-nonsense demeanor. Strong Alto Belt. PRINCIPAL

[WINSLOW] Male, 14, Black. Neighborhood bully. Strong voice. PRINCIPAL
