Local Dallas area actors are encouraged to audition.

Actors of all ethnicities, and gender identities are encouraged to audition as our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible.

PREPARATION

Please prepare 16-32 bar cuts of two contrasting selections in the style of the show. Singing from the show for one of your selections is acceptable. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

THE PROM

SYNOPSIS: Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. When they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow, but when one student wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens and the result is love that brings them all together.

EMMA NOLAN Teenager in Indiana. A reluctant poster child for LGTBQ+ youth. Very smart. A bit of a tomboy quality. Wears their heart on their sleeve. Not your typical leading lady. Female identifying Vocal range: F3 - E5

ALYSSA GREENE A cheerleader and top student. Secretly Emma’s girlfriend. Faces constant pressure from her mother and friends. Isn’t quite as perfect as she seems. Female identifying Vocal range: Ab 3 - Eb5

MRS. GREENE Alyssa’s intimidating, conservative, single mother. The head of the PTA. Knows deep down that her daughter Alyssa is struggling with her identity. Late 30s-50s. Female identifying Vocal range: A3 - C5

DEE DEE ALLEN Broadway diva. A huge ego to match her huge talent. Hilariously self-involved. Late 30s-60s. Female identifying Vocal range: E3 - D5 Has a strong belt.

TRENT OLIVER Pretentious Juilliard graduate recently cast in the non-Equity tour of Godspell. Handsome, charming, funny and loves to hear himself speak. 30s-40s. Male identifying Vocal range: C3- Ab4

ANGIE DICKINSON A long running ensemble member in the Broadway production of Chicago (20 years!). Jaded Fosse girl with a heart of gold. Late 30s-50s. Female identifying Vocal range: Ab3 - E5

BARRY GLICKMAN A very gay Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Impulsive and loves to make a scene everywhere he goes. 30s–50s, Male identifying. High Baritone/Tenor. Vocal Range B2 – F#4

TOM HAWKINS A small town principal. Easily flustered. Straight-laced. A Broadway enthusiast. 30s– 50s, Male identifying. High Baritone. Vocal Range G2 – C4

SHELDON SAPERSTEIN A charismatic press agent. Dry wit. Late 30s-60s. Male OR Non-Binary identifying.

SHELBY/KAYLEE (18-28) Popular cheerleaders and mean girls at school. Female identifying. Strong Dancers.
