From Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet comes this riveting drama in which academic power and sexual politics collide. When Carol, a struggling college student, meets privately with her professor, he consoles her with a pat on the back and a promise that her grade will improve if she continues to meet with him regularly. But his world begins to unravel when she reports his behavior and accuses him of sexual harassment. He desperately tries to convince her that she has misinterpreted his intent. Or has she?

Still seeking the following:

>>Notes from Equity: Character descriptions have changed since the EPA was held. Please re-read. Please submit only if you are right for one of these available roles, and only if you are free to work during the contract dates (9/4 - 10/14/12). Write “OLEANNA – AEA Member Submission” in e-mail subject line.

>>Casting note: Both roles require tremendous range, intelligence and verbal dexterity.

John:
40s–50s. A dynamic college professor on the verge of receiving tenure and a raise. Magnetic personality and verbose. He spends most of the early part of the play waxing eloquently about himself and very little time actually listening. Must be able to transform from a verbose, confident, academic to a man who has lost everything. Actor must be facile, great on his feet and able to turn on a dime.

Carol:
Early – mid 20s. A college student who is initially seemingly naive and extremely anxious and failing her professor’s course. At the start she is unable to express herself clearly and feels incompetent. However, she transforms from a “shrinking violet” into a callous, well spoken, young woman who possesses great clarity. Actress must be facile, great on her feet and able to turn on a dime.
