BREAKDOWN
SEEKING:
SISTER MARY REGINA – 50’s-60’s (Range: B3-F5) Mother Superior: a feisty, overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlights. Moves well and has excellent comic timing. Character requires physical humor.
SISTER MARY HUBERT – mid 40’s-50’s (Range: G3-F5) Mistress of Novices: the second-in-command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior. She exudes maternal wisdom to novices, but also likes to let loose. Moves well.
SISTER ROBERT ANNE – Mid 30’s to 40’s (Range: G3-D5) A streetwise, tough character from Brooklyn, a constant source of irritation for the Mother Superior. She speaks with a Brooklyn accent and constantly displays her lack of refinement. Dance ability a plus including tap.
SISTER MARY AMNESIA – 30’s to mid 40’s (Range: Db4-C6) This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head; she is very sweet. She is spacey and incoherent, often slipping into displays inappropriate for a nun. Sings in classical and country styles. Puppetry and ventriloquism a plus; as well as tap ability.
SISTER MARY LEO – Mid 30’s (Range: G#3-G5) The novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina. Dances well. Pointe work a plus. Tap dance ability as well. Good singer.
