The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center will present staged readings of six new plays during the National
Playwrights Conference. Each play will be in residence for one week between June 16th through July 15th.

ROLES:
PENELOPE- 70-year-old woman; married to OWEN; proud, vain, put-together, has never been good at lonely or boring.
BOBBI- 70-year-old woman; married to PERCY; measured, resourceful, her peace took a very long time to achieve, and so she watches it very closely.
EVELYN- 70-year-old woman; married to HUGO; brash, capricious, earnest, an adventure always just out of reach.
OWEN- 30-year-old man; married to PENELOPE; self-assured, bombastic, the life of the party (at least, if you ask him), lover of novelty.
PERCY- 29-year-old man; married BOBBI; diplomatic, loyal, a kindness that frustrates, a hidden temper that he pushes, pushes, pushes away.
HUGO- 30-year-old man; married to EVELYN; headstrong, dramatic, attention-seeking and maybe a little power hungry, driven by selfish curiosity.
KATE SUSPENDED by Neena Beber
ROLES:
BUCK- a man-child of 38; luckier than he has a right to be.
DR. KEEN- a psychiatrist, boyish and perhaps a tennis player.
NURSE GEE- used to it and a little tired of it.
ROXY- Kate's best friend, annoyed to be relegated to the role of Best Friend.
MR. KARIMOVA- an octogenarian who spent his life as a violinist.
KATIE- a 25-year-old who looks a lot like you might imagine Kate once did.
KATHARINE- a 75-or-so-year-old who looks a lot like you might imagine Kate will someday.
K.T.- a young man, a poet.
KATYA- a young woman, a do-gooder who really does shine with goodness.
HOUSE OF INDIA by Deepak Kumar
ROLES:
JACOB- (male) Wants to be an entrepreneur, Thai, early 20s.
ANANYA- (female) Runs “House of India”, Vikram and Vaidehi’s mother, South Asian, late 50s /early 60s.
