mtwichita.org please prepare the appropriate sides or material of your choice that is appropriate to the role for which you are auditioning. If there are multiple sides offered for the role in which you are auditioning, please choose the sides that you feel will best serve you in your 3 minutes. Please remember to bring a headshot and resume stapled together!

BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

DREW: male identifying. An appealing, good-guy rocker with great, easy comedic timing, a boyish charm, vulnerability and a very strong rock tenor voice. Drew works at the legendary Bourbon Room hoping and waiting for his dreams to come true. He finds an instant attraction to Sherrie, the beautiful new arrival from the Midwest, who encourages him to go after his dreams. (Vocal Range: Bb3-D5)

LONNY: male identifying. The narrator of the piece, charming, mischievous, welcoming, vibrant personality, a guy who would be fun to spend one drunken night with. Strong, honest comedic timing/improv skills and strong rock vocals. (Vocal Range: D3-D5)

DENNIS DUPREE: male identifying. A classic stoner type guy who runs the famous Bourbon Room club. Torn about whether he should sell the club to Hertz, a German businessman. Very strong comedic timing. A laid-back, easy-going dude real dude. Bari-tenor rock vocals. (Vocal

STACEE JAXX: male identifying. A sexy rock star. Decided to leave his successful hair/metal-rock band to try it solo. Self-important, confident intriguing in all the wrong ways, the ultimate bad boy; he is all about sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. Great strong comedic timing and strong rock tenor voice. BEAST: male identifying. The cursed Prince and master of the castle. Age: 30 to 40 (Vocal range: F4- A2)

GASTON: male identifying. A rude, narcissistic hunter who assumes the world belongs to him. Age: 30 to 40 (Vocal range: E4- A2)

LUMIERE: male identifying. A charming French valet who fancies himself a ladies' man; becomes a candelabra. Age: 35 to 45 (Vocal range: F#4- F#2)

MRS. POTTS: female identifying. A sweet, kind-hearted head of the kitchen staff and mother to Chip; becomes a teapot. Age: 45 to 55 (Vocal range: G5- F#3)

COGSWORTH: male identifying.An officious, excitable, English major-domo; becomes a mantle clock. Age: 40 to 55 (Vocal range: E4- A2)

COALHOUSE WALKER, JR.: male identifying. A proud and talented pianist. A Black man who believes that he can take part in the new America and will be treated fairly. Age: 25 to 35 (Vocal range: A4- G2)

SARAH: Female identifying. A washwoman- a young Black woman, beautiful and filled with a strong will to live, fueled by an innocent spirit. Falls deeply in love with Coalhouse after much resistance. Age: 20 to 25 (Vocal range: F#5- G#3)

MOTHER: Female identifying. The consummate wife and mother. A kind woman with incredible moral fiber. Refined, intelligent, graceful and open minded. Age: 30 to 40 (Vocal range: F#5- G3)

FATHER: Male identifying. Mother's professionally successful husband. Fancies himself an amateur explorer, he is commanding and attractive. Enjoys being the family breadwinner, a traditionalist. Age: 30 to 45 (Vocal range: F4- A2)

TATEH: Male identifying. A Latvian immigrant. He wears the trials and tribulations of his past on his sleeve, but remains optimistic that he will be successful. Full of genuine drive and heart. He lives for his little daughter. Age: 35 to 45 (Vocal range: F#4- Bb2)

BOOKER T. WASHINGTON: Male identifying. A brilliant black social activist. He is an eloquent and articulate gentleman with no patience for Black Americans leading less than exemplary lives.

CATS

Chaz Wolcott- Director/Choreographer

Flint Hawes- Music Director

GRIZABELLA: Female identifying. The glamour cat. Age range 35-50. Very accomplished singer with wide dramatic range of vocal timbre, Mezzo with strong belt to E flat

OLD DEUTORONOMY: Male identifying. The wise and beloved elderly cat. Trained high Baritone with strong classical technique, comfortable to A flat, a mature character who can portray the qualities of wisdom and warmth.

GUS: male identifying character singer, tenor, strong legit or operatic voice to Bb. Craggy, cranky. Great storyteller – loves to reminisce about his days on the stage. Doubles as GROWLTIGER, his alter ego, a fearless, swashbuckling opera pirate. Moves well.
