An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Appointments will be accepted for EQUITY MEMBERS ONLY. Email your preferred time range to casting@lanterntheater.org with “EPAs” in the subject line and you will receive a reply with your confirmed timeslot within one business day. Only Equity members may schedule advance appointments. Equity members without appointments will be seen as time permits. Non-union actors are not eligible for appointments, but will be seen as time permits on a walk-in basis.

PREPARATION

Prepare one monologue OR two contrasting monologues – up to 3 minutes total. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together. No accompanist will be provided.

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

ORGON: Husband of Elmire, son of Madame Pernelle, and father of Mariane and Damis. Male, 40s. MADAME PERNELLE: Orgon’s mother. Female, 60s.

ELMIRE: Orgon’s second wife. Grounded. Female. 30s – 40s.

DAMIS: Orgon’s son and Elmire’s stepson. Male, 20s.

MARIANE: Orgon’s daughter. In love with Valère. Female, 20s.

VALÈRE: Mariane’s suitor. Male, 20s.

CLÉANTE: Orgon’s brother-in-law. Calm, reasonable. Male, 30s – 40s.

TARTUFFE: Poses as a religious ascetic but is really a hypocritical scoundrel. Male, 30s – 40s. DORINE: The wise servant and Mariane’s maid. Female, 20s – 40s.

ERNESTINE CRUMP: Godfrey’s older daughter. Smart and thoughtful. Female, Black, 17 years old. ERMINA CRUMP: Godfrey’s younger daughter. Female, Black, 15 years old.

“SISTER” LILY ANN GREEN: Godfrey’s sister-in-law (sister of his late wife). A strong, independent thinker. Female, Black, 30s.

GERTE SHULTE: A German woman who moves to New York City after World War II. Female, white, 30s.

FAITH HEALER

FRANK: The faith healer. A “two bottles of whiskey a day” man. Male, middle-aged. CAST. Actors will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.

TEDDY: Frank’s manager. Described as “Cockney, buoyant, cheerful.” Male, middle-aged. CAST. Actors will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

DUKE SOLINUS: Ruler of Ephesus.

EGEON: A merchant from Syracuse.

ANTIPHOLUS OF SYRACUSE: Twin brother to Antipholus of Ephesus and son of Egeon.

ANTIPHOLUS OF EPHESUS: Husband of Adriana and friend of Duke Solinus. Until the end of the play he does not know that Antipholus of Syracuse is his brother or that Egeon is his father.

ADRIANA: Wife of Antipholus of Ephesus and sister to Luciana.

DROMIO OF EPHESUS: Servant of Antipholus of Ephesus.

DROMIO OF SYRACUSE: Twin brother to Dromio of Ephesus.

LUCIANA: Sister of Adriana.

EMILIA: An abbess in Ephesus, and also the wife of Egeon and mother of the Antipholus twins.
