Breakdown

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, the musical
Directed by Christy Yael and Colleen Kollar Smith
June 27 – July 21, 2013
It’s back by popular demand! Enjoy great music from the 1960s woven together with
Shakespeare’s magical comedy. A musical version of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy
featuring music from The Four Tops, The Temptations, Sam Cooke, The Turtles, and much
more. Young lovers, human and fairy royalty, and an amateur theatre troupe reel through
romance and spellcraft in one of Shakespeare’s most hilarious and enchanting works.
“Midsummer wows in just about every way – strong performances, eye-catching sets and
costumes, a tight band and inventive direction…Critic’s Choice!” - San Diego Union-Tribune

INTO THE WOODS
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by James Lapine
Directed by Christy Yael and Colleen Kollar Smith
July 25 – August 18, 2013
A seamless fusion of fairytales that strikes at the child’s heart within us all. A witch’s curse
condemns the Baker and his Wife to a life with no children. They embark on a quest to
break the spell and what happens after ”happily ever after” will leave you laughing out
loud, fighting back tears, and ultimately transformed by the whole experience. A Tony
Award-winning masterpiece by musical theater giants Stephen Sondheim and James
Lapine, Into the Woods is a witty and irreverent reimagining of beloved classic fairytales:
Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Cinderella.

MACBETH
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Sean Cox and Christy Yael
January 29 – February 16, 2014
Returning from battle, Macbeth encounters three mysterious women who tell him he will
become king. Urged on by his wife, he decides to take his destiny in hand by murdering
King Duncan as he sleeps. But as one atrocity leads inexorably to another, Macbeth finds
that the choices we make can have unexpected consequences. Plunging us into a
nightmare world of eternal darkness and terror, Shakespeare’s great tragedy remains the
definitive study of the descent into evil.
