SEEKING

Equity actors/singers for roles in Gretna Theatre's 2022 Season (see breakdown).

Actors of all races, gender identities, and ethnicities are encouraged to submit.


INSTRUCTIONS

For musicals, please submit a brief contemporary musical theatre song, country song or one of the songs provided at https://gretnatheatre.sharepoint.com/:f:/s/CastResources/EroGzqHoJKVKjjMFTHaUsDgBu6KtugAARQfjxFVekMwwwg?e=Bhz8hD . For consideration for 80 Days, please submit a brief comedic monologue in the style of the show. Submissions due by Friday February 18th, at 6pm.

BREAKDOWN

HONKY TONK ANGELS

Sue Ellen – An LA career woman in her 30s. A receptionist originally from Texas dealing with a misogynistic boss. Modeled after “9 to 5”. Described as beautiful, sexy, and smart. Strong pop/country belt vocals.

Darlene – Female, 18-30. Considered a “sweet Daddy’s girl” from the deep South. Innocent and naïve but knows that music connects her to who she wants to be. Strong pop/country belt vocals.

Angela – A Texas housewife in her 30s. Good humor and more of a mother than the other women in the cast with her fiercely independent streak. Comedic with a country belt.

SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM

Roles in this show are fluid and interchangeable. Each role has a mixture of simple, subtle story-telling and comedic moments. It is truly an ensemble cast, as all of the roles are interwoven through song into the story of Mr. Sondheim's life.

Track 1 - 40s-60s. Mezzo.

Track 2 - 40s-60s. Lyric Baritone.

Track 3 - 30s-40s. Mezzo/Mix-Belter.

Track 4 - 30s-40s. Lyric Baritone.

Track 5 - 20s-30s. Soprano/Mezzo.

Track 6 - 20s-30s. Tenor.

Track 7 - 20s-30s. Mezzo/Mix-Belter.

Track 8 - 20s-30s. Tenor.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL

Director/Choreo: Maggie Anderson

Audition notice for children's roles (except for Matilda) will be posted at a later date.


Matilda - Ages 9-13. An imaginative girl who is clever/wise beyond her years and has a thirst for learning. Can carry a show. British dialect. A contemporary pop voice.

Miss Trunchbull - The tyrannical headmistress at Matilda's school. Any gender. Inspires more fear, than comedy. (Replacement Only)

Mr. Wormwood - 30s, Matilda's uncaring and greedy father.

Mrs. Wormwood - 30s. Matilda's self-absorbed negligent mother and amateur ballroom dancer.

Miss Honey - 20s. Matilda's kindhearted teacher. Strong voice.

Mrs. Phelps - 30s. A nice librarian.

Rudolpho - Dance Feature.

Ensemble - Contemporary singers and dancers to make up an ensemble of featured individuals through Matilda's life.

Track 1 - 15+ Characters. Strong physical comedy and dialect work.

Track 2 - Several roles primarily Detective Fix. Strong physical comedy and dialect work.

Track 3 - Several roles, primarily Passerpartout. Strong physical comedy and dialect work.

Track 4 - Several roles, primarily Princess Auoda. Endearing, with a sharp wit and resilience. Physical comedy and dialect work.

Track 5 - Phileas Fogg. 30s-50s. Cool, calm, and collected at all times. Wealthy Englishman who is determined to win, at all costs.
