Breakdown

Seeking performers for this re-worked production of Good Ol’ Girls.

NOTE: The script and production for Barter is being reworked. The producer and director have strongly expressed that auditioning actors not reference the original NY production or the or
iginal cast recording.

The material strongly reflects the contemporary country spirit of women from the south, particularly Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. All are bright and literate and definitely not from Hee-Haw. Their ages range from early twenties to mid fifties and all must be strong actor/singers able to tell a good story. They should be capable of moving well. Authentic dialects necessary. Musical instruments a plus, but not necessary.

Late 20s - 30s. Strong actor singer (country sound and belt; E below middle C to B flat above middle C). Sexy, sassy, sensitive with inner strength. Always picks the wrong guy. Strong country blues singer with wide vocal range, and mix. Authentic-sounding accent of the Southwest Virginia-Western North Carolina-Eastern Tennessee region required…

[GOOD OL’ GIRL #2 (Lianne)]
20s. Good comedienne. Strong actor/singer (country belt and mezzo/mix; vocal range A below middle C to A). Fun, attractive, seemingly naïve (with an underlying sense of irony).. Authentic-sounding accent of the Southwest Virginia-Western North Carolina-Eastern Tennessee region required…

[GOOD OL’ GIRL #4 (JoAnne)]
Late 40s to mid 50s. Strong actor/singer (country belt with mezzo; E below middle C to Treble E). Versatile character actress who can play a range from country/trailer park to literate and sophisticated urban south. Comedienne. Divorced with adult kids. Authentic-sounding accent of the Southwest Virginia-Western North Carolina-Eastern Tennessee region required…
