All stage managerial positions have been filled.

Many of the characters represented in Fiddler on the Roof identify as Jewish. Actors of Jewish heritage or who identify as Jewish are encouraged to audition. Roles that identify as Jewish have been noted in the breakdown.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a 1-2-minute brief cut of a song from your book in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in your key and headshot/resume. Accompanist will be provided.

BREAKDOWN

All roles will be understudied. The young performer roles of SHPRINTZE and BIELKE will be cast at a separate, later audition session.

SEEKING:

TEVYE (40-60, Jewish) - The likeable, hard-working, pious dairyman who always tries to see the positive side of life. He is a proud patriarch and father of five daughters, closely raised according to Jewish law. Ab2-F4

GOLDE (40-50, Jewish) - Tevye's strong-willed wife who wishes for her daughters to have good husbands and live easier than she and Tevye. A3-Eb5.

TZEITEL (19, Jewish) - Tevye's eldest daughter, who is madly in love with Motel. She is loyal to her family but typically challenges the town's traditions. B3-D5

HODEL (18+ to play 17, Jewish) - Tevye's second eldest daughter, who becomes involved with Perchik. She leaves Anatevka to join Perchik in Siberia. B3-E5

CHAVA (18+ to play 15, Jewish) - Tevye's middle daughter who loves to read. Falls in love and runs off with Fyedka, a Christian Russian soldier.

YENTE (50+, Jewish) The meddling matchmaker. She is a widow and village busybody who knows all the town gossip. F3-F5

MOTEL (18-25, Jewish) The poor and meek tailor who shares a deep love with Tzeitel. Sensitive and nervous, but sincere and friendly. E3-F#4

PERCHIK (18-25, Jewish) The outspoken student and visitor to Anatevka, who constantly challenges the traditions of the town. He falls in love with Hodel. B2-E4

LAZAR WOLF (40-50, Jewish) The feisty, brawny butcher and the town's wealthiest citizen who wishes to marry Tzeitel. C3-F#4

MORDCHA (40+, Jewish) The village innkeeper. He runs the bar in town and is Tevye's friend. RABBI (50+, Jewish) Anatevka's Jewish spiritual leader.

MENDEL (18-25, Jewish) The Rabbi's son. He is uncertain of the presence of Perchik in the village.

AVRAM (40+, Jewish) Runs the local bookshop and keeps the town advised of all the news in the area. D3-Eb4

NACHUM/YUSSEL (30+, Jewish) Nachum is the town beggar. Yussel is the town hatter.

CONSTABLE (35-45) Russian military official stationed near Anatevka who knows the villagers well, however he has superficial relationships with the villagers.

FYEDKA (18-25) A strong, young, Christian Russian soldier who sees past his military obligations and falls in love with Chava. He challenges Tevye's imposed silence.
