Opening June 7th the Barn Theatre School presents AVENUE Q The Musical! The "Sesame Street meets South Park" riot of laughs, puppets, and potential political incorrectness playing through June 12. ONE WEEK ONLY!
Avenue Q is an "autobiographical and biographical" coming-of-age parable, addressing and satirizing the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. Actors take on multiple roles in this colorful comedy which features Sam Balzac as Princeton/Rod, Melissa Cotton Hunter as Kate Monster/Lucy, Patrick Hunter as Nicky/Trekkie and Charlie King as Brian with Hans Friedrichs, Brooke Evans, Samantha Rickard, and Cody Theodore Stiglich in the ensemble. Joining the cast are guest artists Shinnerrie Jackson as Gary Coleman and Jasmine Ejan as Christmas Eve. This side-splitting score includes titles such as "It Sucks to Be Me," "If You Were Gay," "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist," and "I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today."
The show draws considerable inspiration from Sesame Street and substantially imitates its format. However Avenue Q has not been authorized or approved by the Jim Henson Company or Sesame Workshop, which have no responsibility for its content. Writer Jeff Marx interned at the program early in his career, and all four of the original cast's principal puppeteers were Sesame Street performers.Comments
