Black Iowan Stories Matter. nature of the dream is a filmed work of devised theatre exploring Black identity in Iowa directed by Miriam Randolph and produced by Two Steps to the Left Productions with production assistance from The Playhouse. nature of the dream will debut at 7:00 PM, Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021. Those purchasing the film may view it multiple times until midnight, Sunday, Mar. 7, 2021, however the link received upon purchase is limited to one device. In order to make nature of the dream as accessible as possible, buyers can choose from a variety of ticket prices ranging from $1 to $100. The full ticket price will be given to Urban Dreams and the artists creating this film. Our ticketing system also provides an opportunity to make a separate donation to The Playhouse.

DM Playhouse Seeks Black Artists

November 25, 2020

The Des Moines Playhouse is seeking Black actors and artists for an upcoming filmed theatre project. Nature of the Dream is a devised, ensemble-based piece developed through film, art, and music. Through the use of multimedia, this project will affirm that Black Iowan stories matter. Black actors and artists, over age 18, in all mediums, of any gender are invited to share stories.
